There is a special place in the heart of this congregation for Residing Hope, formerly known as the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home. Residing Hope was established as an orphanage in 1908 by Florida Methodists, and by the 1950s had changed its major emphasis to caring for abused, abandoned, neglected or dependent children. Boys and girls are accepted without regard to race, creed or national origin. The staff is composed of competent and dedicated professionals who share responsibility for caring for the children 24 hours a day. Residing Hope assists children in other facilities, in independent living, in foster care, and those in vocational and institutions of higher education.

First Coral Gables supports this important ministry each year through generous contributions and gift cards during the holidays. In 2023, members from this church donated $36,598 to the Home!

On months with five Sundays, First Coral Gables takes a special collection in support of Residing Hope. In 2024, our “5th Sunday Collections” will take place on:

  • March 24

  • June 30

  • September 29

  • December 29

But you don’t have to wait to make a donation to support the important work of Residing Hope! You can make a gift today that will impact a life for generations!
